ESP Home Firmware Installation Instructions

Note: You must use Google Chrome or a Chromium-based browser to install firmware.

USB Web Serial

If you are flashing your ratgdo directly from your computer:

  1. Connect ratgdo to your Mac or PC using a USB data cable (Do not use a USB hub or monitor).
  2. Visit the ratgdo ESPHome firmware selector page.
  3. Choose your garage door opener's control protocol, your ratgdo hardware version and whether or not you have a ratgdo encoder.
  4. Click Install.

Wireless Bluetooth/WiFi (ratgdo32 & disco only)

If your board has a flashing blue light when powered on, it can be set up wirelessly.

Via Web Browser:

  1. Plug ratgdo into a power source.
  2. From a computer or mobile device, join the temporary WiFi hotspot broadcast by ratgdo.
  3. Navigate to http://ratgdo.local in your browser.
  4. Enter your home WiFi credentials and click Save. The blue light will turn off.
  5. Switch your device back to your home WiFi network, reload http://ratgdo.local
  6. At this point you should be able to see a basic ESP Home webUI with an OTA Update field. You can download the OTA firmware file from the ESP Home web installer and upload it directly to your ratgdo.

Via Home Assistant (Bluetooth):

  1. Open the Home Assistant app on your mobile device. Go to Settings -> Devices & services.
  2. Under Discovered, tap Add next to your ratgdo.
  3. Enter your WiFi credentials and tap Connect.
  4. Follow the prompts to adopt the device and upload the firmware.
